April 14, 2023 - Officials at Mary Persons High School’s Freshman Campus were alerted regarding a possible school threat made via phone messaging. Monroe County Schools are collaborating with the Monroe County Sheriff's office to investigate this potential threat. The campus is currently on Code Yellow and we have a larger law enforcement presence on campus at this time. School administrators, staff, and students will continue to adhere to our normal safety protocols.

****For Immediate Release**** On Thursday, March 23, 2023, administrators at Monroe County Middle School were alerted to a possible threat towards the school that was allegedly made by an MCMS student over social media. Superintendent Dr. Mike Hickman and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office were made aware of the situation by MCMS administration. Monroe County school officials and the MSCO are still investigating. Until the investigation is complete, the individual alleged to be involved with this threat will not be on campus. The middle school campus will be supported by law enforcement to ensure student safety. No charges have been filed at this time.

The Fit to Achieve 5K has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 13, due to possible inclement weather. The safety of our participants and volunteers is our top priority, and we do not want to put anyone at risk in unpredictable weather conditions. Shortly before 5 p.m., the fire alarms went off at the Board of Education. Central Office staff evacuated while the fire department checked the building. The cause of the alert was a faulty smoke detector. Thank you to the City of Forsyth Fire Department for their quick response.
