April 13, 2023 - Beginning in August 2023, Monroe County Middle School students will have new arrival and dismissal times. Classes at the middle school will begin at 8 a.m. Dismissal will take place at 3 p.m. This change will help alleviate bus traffic congestion and allow more space for future growth.
Transportation Director Jake Davis says, “We have run out of space to safely add additional buses to our loading areas at Monroe County Middle School and Mary Persons High School. As we continue to anticipate the need for growth, we have to address that now.”
Aligning the times at MPHS and MCMS will also allow Monroe County Schools to station buses simultaneously at both schools, allowing them to begin their routes sooner, while also accommodating the large number of student athletes needed to transfer from one campus to the other.
More information about the change will be released as we get closer to the start of the school year.
