On behalf of the Monroe County Board of Education, we are thrilled to announce the passage of the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) referendum. By continuing the ESPLOST, Monroe County Schools will be able to begin a number of exciting capital projects to benefit our students. Some of the projects on the list include safety upgrades, new buses, stadium improvements, technology upgrades and a Mary Persons Annex.
Monroe County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Hickman says “Thank you to the voters of Monroe County for extending this ESPLOST. These funds will help support our students, staff, and community moving forward.”
We want to thank the voters of Monroe County for approving our ESPLOST continuation. Thanks to you, we will be able to share the burden of supporting our schools with anyone who shops in Monroe County, residents and visitors.
We also want to thank our community ESPLOST committee members. From hosting town halls to purchasing marketing materials, your hard work, time and dedication paved the way for our successful campaign.
