On Tuesday, August 9, the Monroe County Board of Education approved Mrs. Sarah Alford as the new Principal of the Monroe County Achievement Center, effective August 22, 2022. Mrs. Alford currently serves as an Assistant Principal for Mary Persons High School’s Freshman Campus. She joined Monroe County Schools in 2001 as a teacher, and was later promoted to instructional coach. An MPHS grad herself, Mrs. Alford and her husband, Tony, have a son Brandon, who is a senior at Mary Persons High School.
Also Tuesday night, the board accepted the resignation of current MCAC Principal, Grady Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell will be taking a district-level position closer to home.
