November 13, 2024 - Monroe County Schools is pleased to announce that Mrs. Laura Rackley has been hired as Assistant Superintendent of Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) as well as the Chief Executive Officer of the Monroe County College and Career Academy that is scheduled to open in August 2025.

Mrs. Rackley comes to Monroe County Schools from the Jones County School district where she currently serves as the Executive Director of Human Resources. Mrs. Rackley’s experience spans over 23 years and includes serving as a marketing and business education teacher, CTAE supervisor and director, assistant principal, as well as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the Jones County College and Career Academy. 

“Laura Rackley comes to Monroe County Schools as the premier candidate for opening our College and Career Academy,” said Monroe County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jim Finch. “She built the Jones County CCA from the ground up and we are looking forward to her experience and performance as we get our college and career academy successfully up and running. During the interview process, Mrs. Rackley was the clear and obvious choice. Her extensive CTAE experience will serve us well in her additional role as Assistant Superintendent for CTAE. The students in our district stand to gain the most by hiring Laura Rackley.”

Laura is married to Lance Rackley, the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Finance. They have two children, James, a sophomore at the University of Georgia and John, a sophomore at Jones County High School. Mrs. Rackley’s targeted start date is January 3, 2025.
