The Monroe County Board of Education continues to make progress in choosing a new Superintendent. During a called meeting on May 30, 2023, the Board named Dr. Jim Finch asthe sole finalist for the Superintendent position.
Before making this recommendation, the Board worked to identify the characteristics desired in the new Superintendent; adopted qualifications for the position; approved a recruitment announcement; reviewed applications; and interviewed candidates that best met the qualifications.
At least 14 calendar days before taking final action, the Board of Education is required to make available to the public documents for inspection and/or copying concerning any finalists under consideration whom the Board has determined to be best qualified for the position. The Board of Education hopes to have the new Superintendent in place by June 30, 2023.
