The MCBOE provides guidance and Support to the MMS administration and schools by establishing clear policies, aligned goals, and effective systems which produce accountability.

Strategy Map

Monroe County Schools use a continuous improvement approach to planning for improvement through the use of aligned and connected plans for each school and the district. This planning model is based on the Plan, Do, Check, Act approach to planning for continuous improvement. The continuous improvement plan for each school serves as both the short and long range planning framework for that site. The continuous improvement plan acts as an umbrella for all improvement efforts for the school. Each continuous improvement plan is aligned around the four strategic objectives of the school system:

  • Attaining High Student Achievement & Success

  • Developing Organizational Effectiveness

  • Ensuring Student/Stakeholder Engagement and Loyalty

  • Ensuring High Quality Professional Learning

MCS College and Career Readiness Performing Index Balanced Scorecard

The 2024 College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores show strong improvements across the elementary-, middle-, and high-school grade levels in Monroe County, with all categories exceeding the state levels.   

Monroe County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jim Finch, said “The CCRPI is the window for the public to our accountability system. The CCRPI informs our stakeholders the performance we have relative to the state and other districts. We are proud to once again improve upon our own performances as well as leading the central Georgia area. Kudos to our teachers, students, administrators and support staff for these improvements!”

The CCRPI includes five components: Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, Readiness and – for high schools – Graduation Rate.

In 2024, scores improved for every component that was directly comparable to 2023, with the largest increases in high-school Progress along with Content Mastery at all grade levels.

Scores for each component are included below, and growth compared to 2023 is noted for components that are directly comparable.

CCRPI is Georgia’s statewide accountability system. It was first implemented in 2012 under Georgia’s Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Flexibility Waiver as a replacement for No Child Left Behind’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). 

  • Monroe County Schools ranks 11th in Georgia school systems, according to Niche.com.

  • Monroe County Schools ranks 11th in Georgia for districts with the best teachers, according to Niche.com.

  • All five schools in Monroe County also received a 5 Star rating (the highest rating) on School Climate, which is a measure of student discipline, stakeholder surveys, and staff and student attendance. 

 Monroe County Schools also recognizes the importance of having a quality board of education, engaged parents, and a supportive community in the continued success of students and teachers in our school system.
